Twitter is for old people
“Why would anyone care about every boring little thing?”
I realized something today. People my parents age think everything they say is interesting. From what Uncle Jim said to Cousin Phil back in 1973 in passing conversation to what grandma or grandpa ate for breakfast 6 days ago. What medications your mom was on in 1985. Something that your Aunt Doris thought about once telling her ex-husband before you were born, but did not in fact tell him. Where your dad parked the car in 1995. Where your mom tried to convince your dad to park the car, when he did indeed not park the car there in 1995. A side discussion of whether this was 1995 or 1992.
Basically, people like to spread a lot of banal, pointless information. Of course once your mom hears something from your aunt she has to tell you, and then tell your brother, and then tell your other aunt, who tells her husband, and then her friends.
Pretty much exactly what Twitter does. Except they see Twitter as some newfangled misuse of time because it’s just filled with a bunch of boring ol’ things that no one cares about.
