The iPad provides the ultimate browsing experience?
Apple will tell you that you don’t need Flash, but mainly that’s because it competes with their iTunes content. They want you purchasing your content through iTunes, not watching it for free online.
What I want to know is if this idea of a “giant phone” is where tablet style devices should be heading. I think I agree with the concept of the iPad, just not the execution. I’d like to see something like the iPad, with the extensibility and functionality of WebOS. Palm, help a brother out here?
Flash is coming to WebOS. And while WebOS is still behing the iPhone OS in many ways, this is essentially Apple handing Palm an opportunity to close that gap. But, at the same time, I don’t realistically see Palm doing anything like this. I think only Apple can pioneer this front right now. Everyone else is looking at tablets from a micro-PC perspective. Looking at it like a phone was something different. I think that is the brilliance in Apple’s decision and design execution. The iPad 2 will be really nice. And all the Pad-clones will be focusing on competing with the iPad 1.
